Dover – Delaware law enforcement officer arrested 13 individuals for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) of alcohol and/or drugs during week four of the Checkpoint Strikeforce campaign (July 31 & Aug 1). Agencies conducting checkpoints included the New Castle County DUI Task Force (Newark), and Milford Police (on Route 14).
In addition to the 13 DUI arrests, officers issued 1 citation for underage drinking, apprehended 7 wanted individuals, made 8 drug arrests, 8 felony arrests, seized 2 weapons, issued 10 seat belt citations, 10 child restraint citations, and 67 citations for various other traffic violations.
Three sobriety checkpoints are scheduled to occur the weekend of August 7th. The checkpoints are scheduled for:
Friday August 7th – Wilmington (NcCo DUI Task Force)
Wilmington (DSP Troop 6)
Georgetown (Georgetown Police)
Checkpoint Strikeforce is a regional sobriety checkpoint campaign aimed at arresting DUI offenders, and using high visibility enforcement to deter those who would otherwise choose to drink and drive. The campaign, a six month long effort running through New Year’s Eve, involves setting up weekly DUI checkpoints statewide.
