On March 29, 141 entries created by students in grades K through 12 from all over the state were judged in the 2010 Junior Duck Stamp Contest. Winners will be unveiled on Saturday, April 24 during the annual Delaware Ducks Unlimited Greenwings Event at Owens Station in Greenwood.
Maria Ji, 14-year-old from Wilmington and first place winner for grades 7 through 9, won best of show for her work, “Rising Glory, ” an oil painting which depicts a blue-0winged teal taking flight. Her winning Duck Stamp entry will be judged on April 23 in the Federal Junior Duck Stamp Design Contest, sponsored by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Office of the Interior and held this year at the Science Museum of Minnesota.
First runner up YuChen Li, age 16 , of New Castle, a first place winner for grades 10 through 12 and best of show winner for the past three years, attends the Cab Calloway School of the Arts. Second runner up Emily Buck, age 15, a first place winner for grades 10 through 12, attends Woodbridge High School in Bridgeville.
