Wilmington- The Diocese of Wilmington has announced funeral arrangements for the Most Rev. Michael Saltarelli, Bishop Emeritus of the diocese, who passed away early today.
Reception of the body will take place on Monday, October 12, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Church, 809 S. Broom Street, Wilmington, Delaware 19805. The body of Bishop Saltarelli will lie in state until 7:30 p.m. at which time the Most Rev. W. Francis Malooly, Bishop of the Diocese of Wilmington will preside at a concelebrated Mass.
On Tuesday, October 13, 2009, Bishop Malooly will preside at a concelebrated Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Church. This Mass is primarily for Catholic School students of the diocese but is open to all. Bishop Saltarelli’s body will lie in state until 7:30 p.m. at which time Bishop Malooly preside at a concelebrated Mass.
On Wednesday, October 14, 2009, Bishop Saltarelli’s body will lie in state at St. Elizabeth Church from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Bishop Malooly will preside at a concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 1:00 p.m. The Most Rev. John O. Barres, Bishop of the Diocese of Allentown will be the homilist. Internment will follow at All Saints Cemetery on Kirkwood Highway in Wilmington.
All Masses are open to the public although seating is limited.
