Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware provides $250,000 in program funding for Latin American Community Center, Catholic Charities collaboration to provide mental health counseling to under- or uninsured

Wilmington, Del. - The Latin American Community Center and Catholic Charities inc., have been awarded $250,000 from the BlueCross Blue Shield of Delaware Blue Prints for the Community Fund. The grant award will fund a joint project to increase access to mental health care to underinsured and uninsured individuals as well as to reduce health disparities in minority communities.

The project will provide affordable access to outpatient behavioral health care throughout the state of Delaware, with an emphasis on the Hispanic community. The agencies will work together to identify, assess, and provide counseling for uninsured individuals, using grant funds to subsidize treatment fees. In addition, the agencies will provide scholarships to individuals for Catholic Charities Certified Alcohol and Drug Training program, highlighting bilingual enrollment, to increase the number of healthcare professionals qualified to provide addictions treatment.
