July 28, 2009 Wilmington, DE: Volunteers with the American Red Cross of the Delmarva Peninsula met with a Georgetown, DE family of five (one adult and four children) today after a fire damaged their Ruse Avenue home yesterday afternoon. The Red Cross provided the family with temporary shelter, food, clothing and stuffed animals for the children.

The Red Cross reminds residents of the Delmarva Peninsula to check and replace the batteries in their smoke detectors. A working and updated smoke alarm may save your life or the lives of your loved ones in the event of a fire.
