Shelby L. Stevens
James Harrington’s DUI trial has finally come. On February 20, 2009, my uncle, Hank Huff lost his life in the Sand Hill Rd. crash caused by Mr. Harrington. The trial will be held at the Sussex County Courthouse, 9:30 am on Monday, October 26, 2009 and if anything changes I will let you all know as soon as possible. The charges against James Harrington are Manslaughter, Vehicular Homicide 1st degree, Vehicular Assault 1st degree and DUI. It is crucial we are all there to show our concern. I am not sure what kind of punishment he faces, but I want it to be at its fullest extent and that is going to take everyone’s help. It is important that he and other DUI offenders get a harsher sentence for putting all our lives in danger and taking the ones we love. I know that family and friends will be there, but I'm pleading to everyone to see the severity of the consequences of driving under the influence and show up on the 26th. It's not just for Hank; it’s for all the others lost and their families. Also, it’s for our protection as we do our daily routines. It is not fair that a man, driving to the grocery store with his son, had to die because a speeding, drunk, drug induced man carelessly got behind the wheel. This is serious, and in my opinion it was murder. Don't forget how the town of Milton named Hank their hometown hero, or when MADD and the Georgetown Police honored Hank by directing their motorcycle benefit ride past the place where the crash occurred. Don't forget, as we can never forget a precious piece of our family that we will never see again with our human eyes. Only in pictures and memories can we see Hank as he was and always will be, our hero with a heart of gold. So please everyone, come to the courthouse in Georgetown on the 26th and make sure its known that you care. Thank you to everyone for everything you have done so far. It has been amazing and it’s time to tie up these loose ends that have been burdening my family. James Harrington does not deserve to be free for what he did to Hank and for what he could do to someone else, should he be let free to do it.
