Also Names Officers for 2015-2016 Season

Coastal Concerts, which promotes classical music appreciation in central Delmarva, elected two new members to its Board of Directors.

Agnes DiPietrantonio, a former municipal official, and Karen Palmer, a retired financial administrator, will each serve three-year terms. Their election increases the Coastal Concerts board to 11 members.

The board also elected Palmer assistant treasurer and DiPietrantonio as secretary. Other officers are Steve Tolbert, treasurer; Dan Crampton, vice president; and Peter Harrigan, president.

DiPietrantonio, a long-time Coastal Concerts audience member, retired from the Town of Fenwick Island, where she served as a police clerk and receptionist and later as the Town Clerk. She previously held administrative positions with L-3 Communications and the Arlington (VA) County Department of Community Planning and Housing Development. In addition to Coastal Concerts, she volunteers for Lunch With a Purpose and the Meadows at the Villages of Old Landing Home Owners Association.

Palmer moved to Delaware in 2014 following a 31-year career with the Boeing Co. in southern California, where she held financial administration positions. On the West Coast, she volunteered with the Long Beach Symphony and the Seal Beach Animal Shelter, and served as secretary and treasurer of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Long Beach.

Coastal Concerts’ five-concert season begins in October 2015 and runs through March 2016, with a sixth “wild card” program featuring reduced admission in April 2016. In addition to those performances, the non-profit organization provides scholarships to musically talented high school students in Sussex County. It also takes visiting performers to area schools for interactive educational programs; presents free concerts in underserved communities; provides donated musical instruments to schools’ music departments; and presents free lectures to enhance the appreciation of classical music.
