Over 27 students from four schools and/or after-school programs statewide participated in the contest, depicting their vision of this year’s theme, “Transit vs. Driving, Why Transit is the Right Fit.” Students researched the bus service and its various destinations and learned of the benefits of riding transit in Delaware. Students from 6th through 12th grade were invited to participate. A First Place Winner from each grade was chosen along with an overall Grand Prize Winner. There were no entries for 7th or 8th grade this year.
This year’s Grand Prize Winner is Dan Lutz, a 10th Grader from Wilmington Christian School. Dan’s artwork will be placed on all DART First State buses statewide and also be featured on our website, DartFirstState.com and in DART’s newsletters.
The 1st Place Winners by grade are: Marley Fishburn, 6th Grade, Seaford Middle School, No Entry, 7th Grade; No Entry, 8th Grade; Wenbo Guo, 9th Grade, Wilmington Christian School, Mrs. Barrick; Dan Lutz, 10th Grade, Wilmington Christian School, Mrs. Barrick; Katiana Jones, 11th Grade Wilmington Christian School, Mrs. Barrick; and Madeline Deaten, 12th Grade Wilmington Christian School, Mrs. Barrick. All first place winners will receive a number of prizes from DART and be recognized at a future Wilmington Blue Rocks game.
