Sussex County Delaware – Sussex County Health Coalition is excited by all the significant support we have received from the community for the “Delaware Goes Purple” campaigns over the last four years. With the help of our community and sponsors, Highmark Delaware, Matt Haley Trust, Beebe HealthCare, Bayhealth, Christiana Care, WBOC, and United Way of Delaware we reached more than 150,000 Delawareans yearly with information on treatment, prevention, and messages of hope with the goal to end the stigma of addiction and to share that recovery is possible!
Last year, we had the direct support of over 100 organizations who actively engaged over 5,000 people to participate in “Delaware Goes Purple” events and campaigns. Including our newest “Rocking for Recovery “event that was held in June thanks to the generous donation of space at the Hudson Fields.
However, there is still so much to do, and our goal is to double these numbers and to increase prevention initiatives statewide and we need your support!
We have all faced challenges due to COVID-19, and we have seen a significant increase in rates of addiction and overdose deaths as a result of the pandemic.
Still in Delaware Addiction claims the life of 1 Delawarean every 22 hours.
In the United States, one person dies every 19 minutes due to a prescription drug overdose. THIS IS PREVENTABLE!
We are proud to announce Delaware’s Lt. Governor Bethany Hall-Long will be our Honorary Chair for the third year.
