Delaware Technical & Community College’s specialty license plate online auction ends Sunday, November 16 at 10pm. Alumni, students, employees, and friends of Delaware Tech still have time to compete for their favorite number. The highest bidders will win their very own Delaware Tech plate approved for use by the Division of Motor Vehicles. The auction, sponsored by the College’s Alumni Association, raises money for the Association and for the College’s Educational Foundation which funds scholarships and programs that benefit students. According to President Orlando J. George, Jr., “Participants are not just purchasing a license plate; they are making an investment in the success of our students. We have many students who are struggling and working hard to make ends meet, and these funds will help address their needs and support academic programs that will enrich their educational experience.”

Participants in Delaware Tech’s online auction can bid on license plates numbered 1-9999 at a starting bid of $50.00 except for single-digit plates which begin at $100.00. Winners can claim their purchase as a tax deductable donation. Dr. Barbara Ridgely, associate vice president for institutional advancement, is enthusiastic about this fundraising effort. “One and two-digit tags along with the graduation year plates have been the most popular. Bidders have participated in hopes of obtaining one for themselves or for their favorite Delaware Tech graduate or supporter. They make great birthday or holiday gifts and represent a unique way to show support for our students.”
