During the 10-session certificate course, students learned what it takes to plan business and corporate events, weddings, and other special events. Topics included promotion, coordination, planning, design, and marketing.
Students also received suggestions for setting up a home office, determining client preferences, and preparing a budget.
The course was taught by Donna Duffy who is co-owner of Memorable Milestones, Inc., a successful event and travel-planning business.
Donna Duffy is a dynamic instructor who motivated and connected us with the event planning field,” said Lynn Hammond of Milford.
I would recommend this class to anyone who wants to enter the event planning field,” said Ellen Abbott of Berlin, Md. who started her business, Sable Weddings and Events, during the course. “Donna gave me a push and the confidence to get started; it (the course) was a really great experience.”
The next event planning course will be held in spring 2011. Duffy also is teaching a new affordable marketing class from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. beginning June 24.
