Dona Maria, owner of Doña Maria’s Pupuseria in Seaford, is helping to make a difference in the community by donating a percentage of the sales of their famous pupusas (thick corn tortillas filled with anything from meat to cheese to refried beans) to support the annual Live for Chocolate event held on Friday, May 4, 2018.

This event promotes women’s health awareness and raises funds for Nanticoke’s Breast Cancer Fund, which helps with expenses for Sussex County women who cannot otherwise afford a mammogram or other breast cancer diagnostic testing.

As the second leading cause of death of women in the United States, breast cancer touches us all. Whether it’s a family member, friend or acquaintance, this disease has undoubtedly affected the life of someone you may know or love. This is why breast cancer awareness is important not only to raise funding for a cure, but also to educate women on early detection.

On Friday, June 1, 2018, Doña Maria’s Pupuseria presented a check to Renee’ Morris, Nanticoke Foundation Executive Director, and Sharon Harrington, Nanticoke’s Marketing Director, in the amount of $400 to support women’s health in the community and SAVE A LIFE!

Nanticoke would like to thank Doña Maria’s Pupuseria for their support and look forward to working with them in the future. Generous donors are the key to our success and make it possible for the Nanticoke Health Foundation to positively impact our communities’ quality of life through superior health service.
