Dover – Four sobriety checkpoints are scheduled to occur statewide as part of the Office of Highway Safety’s 2009 “Checkpoint Strikeforce” impaired driving prevention campaign. They are scheduled for:
Friday July 10th – Newport (NcCo DUI Task Force)
Southern DE Beach area (DSP Troop 4)
Saturday July 11th – Georgetown (Georgetown PD)
Dover (Dover PD)
Now in its eighth year, “Checkpoint Strikeforce” is a multi-state crackdown on impaired drivers coordinated locally by the Delaware Office of Highway Safety. The campaign involves setting up weekly sobriety checkpoints through New Year’s Eve and adding DUI patrols during peak holiday times such as Labor Day, Halloween and the month of December. Twenty-two law enforcement agencies are participating in this year’s campaign.
