Last Thursday, July 30 th The First State Summer Enrichment Program (sponsored by the First State Community Action Agency) ended with a celebration at the Cafeteria of the Georgetown Elementary School from 10 am to 12:30 pm.
First State Community Action Agency was proud to sponsor a summer program which combined the Delaware Prevention Network After School Program with the La Casita Homework Program for the second year.
The La Casita Program focused on Hispanic arts & crafts and learning more about the culture of Mexico and Guatemala.
Children participated in the combined afternoon activities such as art projects, cooking classes, drama classes, physical education, alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention and all day educational field trips.
Children visited Fort Delaware, Killen’s Pond, Trap Pond, The Naval Academy, and the Delaware State Fair.
The Summer Program was made possible thanks to the Indian River School District, the Delaware Prevention Network, El Centro Cultural, the Delaware Division of the Arts, the La Casita Parents Association, the University of Delaware Cooperative Extension 4-H Club, and the Rehoboth Art League.
