Gov. Carney signs important medical bills

Primary Care Bill and Expedited Partner Therapy Bill become law


Governor Carney signed Senate Bill 227, the Improving Access to Primary Care bill into law yesterday.

Crafted by the Medical Society of Delaware along with Senator Bryan Townsend and Representative David Bentz, the bill sets the reimbursement floor for primary care services at Medicare and compels claims data reporting by insurers, as well as convenes a group to assist in crafting future legislation to continue the path toward long-term, significant investment into Primary Care.

The Governor also signed Senate Bill 157, the Expedited Partner Therapy bill which allows for physicians to prescribe treatment not only for a patient who presents with an sexually transmitted infection, but also sexual partners.
