Guillermina Gonzalez, to hold campaign kickoff February 21

Wilmington, DE –– With a pledge to bring her unique perspective and record of results to Dover, local Democrat, executive, and advocate Guillermina Gonzalez has announced her intention to seek election as the State Representative for District 22.

“With a background that spans both corporate and nonprofit boardrooms, grassroots community organizing is at the heart of who I am and how I approach finding solutions to the very real challenges that we face in Delaware,” said Gonzalez about her candidacy. “I now want to transfer my skills and experiences in order to provide the best representation for the people and the interests of District 22 in Dover.”

Gonzalez will officially launch her campaign on Wednesday, February 21 at Piree’s Piri Piri Grill from 5 to 7 pm but is already discussing and prioritizing issues affecting her constituents. Piree’s is located on 5335 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808. The event is open to the public but the space is limited. RSVP GGforDelaware@gmail.com

Gonzalez started her career in an international role for ExxonMobil as an executive responsible for marketing the company’s products and developing partnerships with both large and small businesses. She credits her years as a young professional from Mexico given the opportunity to work for an American company as a wonderful experience that significantly shaped her leadership skills and perspective.

Following her successful career at ExxonMobil and her relocation to Delaware, Gonzalez led Voices Without Borders (VWB), a nonprofit organization that worked to improve the status of Hispanics throughout the state.
Most recently, Gonzalez served as the founding Executive Director of the Delaware Arts Alliance (DAA). During her 8-year tenure with DAA, Delaware ranked third in the nation for per capita state arts funding and under her leadership, state funding for the arts grew substantially.

“The 22nd District deserves a leader who brings to the position the experience of both business and social sector work, as well as a full-time commitment to the work of being the district’s representative in Dover,” said Gonzalez. “I look forward to the opportunity to give back to Delaware in the same way this state and community have given so much to me.”

Guillermina and her husband Charles Sobrero reside in Pike Creek and have enjoyed the quality of life of this area for over 16 years.
