Help “Stuff The Bus”

Join DART First State to help the Food Bank of Delaware feed Delawareans in need this Thanksgiving

Join DART First State, in partnership with the Food Bank of Delaware for “Stuff The Bus” 2014, the 17th annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. Last year, Stuff The Bus, which was held statewide, was successful in collecting 11.4 tons of nonperishable food for the Food Bank of Delaware.

Monday, November 10, 8 AM – 6 PM

Wednesday, November 12, 8 AM – 5 PM
Acme, Fairfax Shopping Center, US Route 202, Wilmington

Thursday, November 13, 7 AM – 5 PM
Rodney Square, Market Street side, Wilmington
(WJBR will broadcast live from 11 AM – 1 PM)

Friday, November 14, 7 AM – 1 PM
Rodney Square, Market Street side, Wilmington

At each collection site, DART First State will be available to help stuff the bus and will provide public transit and Food Bank information to visitors. For “Stuff The Bus” 2014 information, visit http://www.DartFirstState.com, or call us at 1-800-652-DART.

You can help feed many people in need by donating nonperishable items, all of which will be donated to the Food Bank of Delaware. Below is a listing of needed/suggested items:

Cornflakes, Toasted Oat Rings, Powdered Milk, Parmalat Long Life Milk, Evaporated Milk, Swiss Whey D’Lite, Applesauce, Pancake Mix, Orange Juice, Apple Juice, Beef Stew, Spaghetti Sauce/Meat, Spaghetti Wheels, Chicken Noodle Soup, Macaroni & Cheese, Peanut Butter, Pancake Syrup, Chicken & Dumplings, Canned Tuna, Pork & Beans, Mixed Vegetables, Sweet Potatoes, Instant Mashed Potatoes, Whole White Potatoes, Sliced White Potatoes, Whole Kernel Corn, Cut Green Beans, Garbanzo Beans, Navy Beans, Pinto Beans, Kidney Beans, Jams, Jellies, Preserves, all other soup/stews, all other canned meats, all other canned vegetables, all other canned fruit, Cooking/Vegetable Oils, Laundry Detergents, Paper Products, Diapers, Personal Care, and Pet Food.

Please note that the Food Bank cannot accept hard candy, lollipops, soda in cans and bottles, chocolate bars or pieces, gum and soft candy such as marshmallows, caramels, taffy, licorice and gummy items.

The Food Bank of Delaware is a nonprofit agency working to end hunger in Delaware. Each year it distributes millions of pounds of food and fills orders for over 550 hunger-relief partners in Delaware. An estimated 242,000 Delawareans turn to emergency food assistance every year to avoid going hungry and almost half of them are children.

The Food Bank not only collects nonperishable food items, but also other household products, such as laundry detergent, paper products, diapers, personal care items and pet food.
