DOVER, DE — Due to the impending Hurricane Irene, the Kent County Tourism office and the area hotels are experiencing a heavy call volume from vacationers and residents currently in the coastal areas of Virginia, Maryland and Delaware, who looking for lodging away from, but near their vacation destinations and homes.
Hotels in the Milford area are less than 30 minutes north of the Rehoboth Beach area; and hotels in the Dover area are approximately 45-50 minutes north of the beach areas.
As of 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, the following hotels had availability:
· AmericInn Harrington, 302-389-3900, rooms available Friday through Sunday nights, $99/night plus tax. Will take dogs for $25 additional fee per night.
· AmericInn Milford, 302-839-5000, rooms available Friday through Sunday nights, $99/night plus tax. Will take dogs for $25 additional fee per night.
· Comfort Inn Dover, 302-674-3300, 60 rooms Friday and Saturday nights, $99/night plus tax.
· Country Inn & Suites Dover, 302-677-3300, some standard rooms, $139 plus tax; a few suites still available.
· Hampton Inn Dover, 302-736-3500, 45 rooms for Friday night, $129 plus tax; 22 for Saturday night, $129 plus tax; and 50 for Sunday night, $109 plus tax.
· Microtel Dover, 302-674-3800, some rooms available Friday through Sunday nights, $79/night plus tax. Will take dogs for $25 additional fee per night.
