One night as I was getting ready for bed I heard deep within my heart a question: ‘How many ants have you killed today?” I did not understand the question but I resolved to seek the answer from the Lord because of its profound implication. It was months later that I understood that it had to do with our reaction to people who share the true message of life.
The scripture tells us: “Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have, unwittingly, entertained angels.”
Yet, I have heard folks say that they would only listen to a Reverend Pastor, a high ranking Prophet or one endorsed officially by a church. Furthermore, I have heard others say they would only listen to men because, according to them, women are not worthy vessels of the word of God.
What about you? Do you only hear from those who come with imposing titles and showy messages with promises of wealth or fame? Do you reject women sent by God to share the good news of the Kingdom? Or do you receive wisdom and truth wherever it is found, and regardless of the vessel that carries it?
Truly, messages and lessons come from the most unexpected places! To reject a divine lesson, message or messenger is to do injury to oneself and others. We are on this earth for a little while and only to discover our purpose, develop our unique gifts, heal ourselves and help heal the world. In so doing we magnify the name of the Lord and raise humanity to a higher state of being.
Teachers come in varied shapes, forms, and sizes; even wrapped in swaddling cloth lying in a manger. The Scripture admonishes ‘go to the ant…consider her ways and be wise.’ Even these tiny creatures, the Lord sends as teachers. Would you pay attention?
My prayer is that we may learn to see beyond outward appearances to accept the heavenly lessons presented to us each day. Let us embrace and integrate them in order to move to higher ground. Let us commit to flowing freely in the River of Life with a clear conscience that we have not killed any ants today.

Una noche cuando me preparaba a dormir, escuché dentro de mi corazón una pregunta: ‘¿Cuántas hormigas has matado hoy?’ Aunque no entendí la pregunta me propuse buscar la contestación del Señor pues entendí su implicación profunda. Meses pasaron hasta que entendí que tenía que ver con nuestra reacción hacia la gente que comparte el mensaje verdadero de vida.
Nos dice la escritura: ‘No os olvidéis de la hospitalidad*, porque por ella algunos, sin saberlo, hospedaron ángeles’
Aún así, he escuchado gente decir que solo prestarían atención a un Pastor Reverendo, a un conocido Profeta o a aquél reconocido oficialmente por alguna iglesia. Mas aún, he escuchado a otros decir que solo prestarían atención a los hombres pues estan convencidos de que las mujeres no son vasijas dignas de cargar la palabra de Dios.
¿Y tú?, ¿escuchas solo a aquéllos que tienen títulos impresionantes y dan mensajes llamativos con promesas de riquezas y fama?. ¿Rechazas a las mujeres enviadas por Dios a compartir las buenas nuevas del Reino o recibes sabiduría y verdad de donde venga y sin fijarte en la vasija que lo carga?
¡Verdaderamente, los mensajes y las lecciones vienen de los lugares mas inesperados! El rechazar un mensaje divino, una leccion o un mensajero es hacerse daño a sí mismo y daño a otros. Estamos en la tierra por poco tiempo y solo para descubir nuestro propósito, desarrollar nuestras habilidades únicas, sanarnos y ayudar a sanar al mundo. Es de esa manera como engrandecemos el nombre del Señor y elevamos a la humanidad a un estado de ser más alto.
Los maestros vienen en diversos moldes, formas y tamaños; aún ‘envuelto en pañales, acostado en un pesebre.’ Las escrituras nos amonestan ‘Ve a la hormiga…Mira sus caminos, y sé sabio; también estas pequeñas criaturas, envió el Señor como maestras. ¿Les prestarás atención?
Es mi oración el que podamos aprender a ver más allá de las apariencias para aceptar las lecciones que se nos presentan cada día. Abracemos e integremos las mismas para poder movernos hacia una esfera más alta. Que el compromiso sea fluir libremente en el “rio de la vida” con una conciencia clara de que hoy no hemos matado a ninguna hormiga.
(*la palabra ‘hospitalidad’ en la escritura de Hebreos 13:2 en el Griego original es ‘philoxenia’ que también significa ‘él ama a los extranjeros’ [en otras palasbra aquéllos que no aparentan ser mucho])
