On Sept. 14, the popular Georgia House Restaurant in Millsboro will set the scene for La Red Health Center’s annual Fall Fundraiser. “The event will bring people together for a good cause,” says Chris Sadowski, the event coordinator and member of La Red Health Center’s board of directors. “Friends can enjoy an evening of fine food and camaraderie.”

The event, scheduled for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., will feature a buffet with beef, chicken and pasta. Tickets are $16.99 for adults and $8.99 for children ages 4-12. Children 3 and under attend for free. Walk-in’s are welcome and takeout is available for the same price. For tickets or more information call 302-539-4160.

“The support we have received for our Fall Fundraiser is amazing—from Seaford to Ocean City,” says Brian Olson, chief executive officer of La Red Health Center. “We are all looking forward to a successful fundraiser so that we can continue the important work of providing medical services to the most vulnerable individuals in our communities.”

La Red, Sussex County’s only federally qualified health center, was founded in 2001 to serve all members of the community, regardless of race, age or ethnic background. The center in particular targets the underinsured, uninsured or those who face other barriers to medical care.

In addition to comprehensive pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric primary care services, La Red Health Center also offers preventive and community outreach programs in such areas as childhood immunization, diabetes education and HIV prevention. Women’s health initiatives include onsite prenatal care, and diagnostic breast, cervical and colorectal cancer screening as part of Delaware’s “Screening for Life” programs.
