GFWC Zwaanendael presented “Human Trafficking in Delaware” at Lewes Public Library, 111 Adams Avenue, Lewes, Delaware on Thursday, January 25th.
The speaker was Yolanda Schlabach, Executive Director, Zoe Ministries, Inc. (Delaware)

Mrs. Schlabach answered these an other questions:
What happens to survivors after escape from, or arrest of, their traffickers?
What do they need?
What do we, as a nation, offer?
With over 200,000 American victims annually and only 700 beds available, we need infrastructure to support this population.

Mrs. Schlabach is a Registered Nurse. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership and Management from Regent University in 2004 and graduated in 2014 from Liberty University with a Master’s in Human Services & Counseling. Yolanda attended the University of Maryland, earning a Certificate in Working with Survivors of Violence, Trauma and Torture. Yolanda was a member of Delaware’s former Human Trafficking Coordinating Council and Co-Chair of its Victim Services Committee. Mrs. Schlabach has served as Executive Director of Zoë Ministries, Inc. since 2012, when the organization received 501(c)(3) status. For the past few years, she has spent her time engaged in public awareness and professional education to bring the reality of human trafficking to the forefront in Delaware. This is her second TEDx talk on the subject. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
