The 2022 Big Draw Festival DE, presented by the Mispillion Art League (MAL), will offer free, family-friendly art activities on Park Avenue in downtown Milford on Saturday, October 8, from 9 am to 3 pm. MAL is organizing this year’s theme, Come Back to Color (spelled ‘Colour’ in the UK), as a way for the community to gather and celebrate the joy of color, family, culture, and heritage by creating art through experimentation and creativity.
One of the many activities this year is to make a BIG drawing on a GIANT wall of paper that will stretch down Park Avenue! Bring your imagination and experience the joy of coloring with markers on a vertical surface. Encourage your kids to show their creativity and use the whole surface, – from top to bottom.
This awesome activity has the added benefit of building core and shoulder strength, and makes directional terms (up, down, left, right) much easier to understand because the child can relate the words to his very own body. It also may be beneficial for kids who can’t sit for long periods of time since everyone will be standing while creating , plus it’s just plain fun!
In addition, there will be sandcastle building, drawing with chalk on the sidewalk, painting pumpkins, and a variety of drawing and painting activities for kids (and adults) of all ages!
The Festival was first organized in the UK 22 years ago and is now the world’s biggest celebration of drawing. It promotes the universal language of drawing as a tool to learn, express, and invent. Activities are for everyone of all ages—families, children, artists, non-artists—anyone looking to have a fun art-making experience. Come out and enjoy creating art for art’s sake!
