Downtown Milford Business owners John Mollura of Mollura Photography and Mike Perfetti, tattoo shop owner – Delaware Branding Company have expanded their collaborations into the realm of live, original, hard-rock music written by them and their bandmates in Great Big Liars.“I met John when he was one of our first ‘Artist of the Month’ seven years ago,” says Mike Perfetti. John Mollura, a local photographer, had just started his business. Perfetti continues “we were still a new shop, a tattoo shop in Downtown Milford, at that. We were showcasing local artists on a wall at the shop, complete with receptions and a chance for patrons to meet and talk to the artist.”Flash forward six years to 2021, when John joined forces with Perfetti’s band – Great Big Liars. Mollura had been playing guitar at home and while he often thought of joining a band, he never pursued it. Mike added, “Me and the singer, Stephen Barr had been struggling to keep personnel on board. It was like something out of Spinal Tap (but without the spontaneous combustions)! Guitar players came and went, none of them really fit. It wasn’t until John shot a video with us, for an interim project, that we discovered he played guitar and it just clicked. We finally secured Ben Gunter on drums earlier this year and the rest of the history is currently being written.”.A couple of months ago, Mollura Photography and Delaware Branding Company did a cross promotion offering portraits by Mollura to its clients. Perfetti continues, “it was pretty successful. As we would tattoo people, they were offered the opportunity to get a professional portrait featuring their new ink.”.Mollura adds “It’s just as simple as coming up with new, fun creatives ideas and executing them. Mike and I are kindred spirits in that we both believe that life is short, and you just need to go for it. The band is taking off like a rocket. Great Big Liars have a full album of material written and we have started our “mini-tour”. We have played a warehouse party of 50 people and just played to 400+ people at the 1CW Pro Wrestling event in Houston, DE. It’s pretty exciting.”Collaborations of the tight knit Downtown Milford businesses is steering a new course for the city that in the past has been known for its big downtown events. “We are thrilled to be a part of the resurgence that is happening in Milford.,” Mike says “it will be great to see the city finally get back to where it was four years ago.”John Mollura Photography’s Bay 94 Studio is located at 6 Park Avenue in Milford (by appointment) and online at Molluraphoto.com.
