What is the new ‘flu and how is it transmitte?
It is a respiratory infection produced by the new A(H1N1) ‘flu virus. On coughing or sneezing, a spray of respiratory secretions containing the virus is launched, and can be spread to other people within a radius of one meter.
Contagion is also possible by contact with a contaminated object (handkerchief, door-handles, hand-rails, kitchen utensils, toys, telephones, computer mouse) and then touching the nose or mouth with the hands.
How to prevent the ‘flu:
Everybody must apply common hygienic prevention measures in order to reduce contagion.
1. Cover the nose and the mouth when coughing or sneezing. Use tissues and dispose of them in rubbish disposal facilities. 2.If you do not have tissues, coug or sneeze onto your shir sleeve.
3. Avoid touching the nose or mouth with your hands.
4. Wash your hands frequently with soap.
5. Do not share personal hygiene objects.
6.Ventilate the house daily.
7.Clean all surfaces frequently.
What are the symptoms?
The symptoms of the new ‘flu are similar to those of the common variety, amongst which fever, cough, respiratory difficulties, headache, sore throat, muscular pain and general ill-being are included. These symptoms may be accompanied by vomiting and diarrhea.
Everybody is responsible for applying these measures to contain the spread of the New ‘Flu.
