Wilmington, DE - Over the weekend, Senator Bob Dole sent the maximum contribution to Christine O’Donnell’s campaign for U.S. Senate in Delaware.
“There are no words to express my profound gratitude to Senator Dole for his warm and kind support for my candidacy,” stated Ms. O’Donnell. “To say I am deeply touched is inadequate. The people of Delaware are free today because of the courage of men like Bob Dole.
Senator Dole made the following statement on his endorsement: “Christine O’Donnell’s message resonated with the voters and to the surprise of many she defeated Congressman Mike Castle, who many of us thought would win. The primary is over and in my opinion it is time for voters to join hands and support Christine O’Donnell. The Delaware seat is important and the winner in November could well determine whether Republicans or Democrats control the Senate.
“I find many of the attacks on O’Donnell to be personal and lacking in balance and fairness. If her campaign wishes I am willing to assist in a limited way since I am still a patient at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. I will have surgery Monday, September 27.”
“His endorsement means so much to me and our fellow citizens because he –unlike some who have simply taken, never given– fought for everything he believed in,” said Ms. O’Donnell.
“The people of Delaware honor him, his sacrifice, his courage and his love of our country, and I am deeply grateful for his support.”
