(Milton, DE) - Casa San Francisco in Milton, Delaware - a ministry of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Wilmington - will hold its annual auction and luncheon on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, Delaware, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Special guest speaker and auctioneer is Kevin Reilly, former member of the Philadelphia Eagles. All proceeds from the auction and luncheon will benefit Casa San Francisco and Catholic Charities’ programs operating in Sussex County.

Casa San Francisco, providing service for over 25 years to Sussex County, is a 10-bed, 30-day emergency adult shelter in Milton, Delaware. In addition, Catholic Charities operates two successful food programs based at Casa: a food cooperative and an emergency food pantry. This past winter, Casa San Francisco provided 1,412 nights of shelter to the homeless. Its food cooperative program distributed 28 ½ tons of food to 483 families. Its emergency pantry saw demand increase 40% over the same period last year.

Catholic Charities provides further services in Sussex County, including addiction, mental health, and substance abuse counseling, adoption services, and basic needs assistance in its office in Georgetown, Delaware.

Richelle A. Vible, Executive Director, encourages everyone to participate. “The Casa San Francisco auction and luncheon is a very enjoyable way to support our programs in Sussex County. Catholic Charities has seen a dramatic increase in the demand for services from our neighbors in Sussex County, and we continue to look for additional support to meet the growing need. Our auction attendees will provide that support by bidding on some wonderful items, enjoying a tasty lunch, and sharing a lovely afternoon with friends and neighbors.”

Tickets are available at $40 per person. To purchase tickets, a program advertisement, or auction sponsorship, or to donate an item for auction, contact Linda Byrnes at Casa San Francisco. Linda can be reached by phone at 302-684-8694 or by email at lbyrnes@ccwilm.org. Doors open at 11 a.m., so come early to place your bids on the great items up for auction.
