October Events throughout Delaware will require temporary road and lane restrictions

Dover-The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that motorists can expect road and lane restrictions with an interruption to traffic for the following special events in October.

Dewey Goes Pink-Dewey Beach,
Motorists can expect delays in traffic from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 4 on Route 1 and Silver Lake Drive in Dewey Beach.

Apple Scrapple Festival – Bridgeville
Motorists can expect road closures and delays in traffic from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday, October 10 and 6:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Saturday, October 11 in Bridgeville.

Milford Community Parade-Milford
The annual Milford Community Parade will start at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15 on Seabury Avenue to Walnut Street and end at Northeast Front Street at the high school. During the parade, Walnut Street will be closed to traffic. Motorists should choose another alternate route in Milford.

Delaware State University Annual Homecoming with Parade-Dover
Motorists can expect possible lane restrictions and delays in traffic beginning at 10 a.m. for the Annual Homecoming Parade on Loockerman Street in Downtown Dover on Saturday, October 18. After the parade, a football game will be held at the Delaware State University’s Alumni Stadium. The main entrance will be closed at Delaware State University.

University of Delaware Homecoming-Newark
Motorists can expect delays in traffic in downtown Newark surrounding the University of Delaware beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, October 18. There will also be a lane closure on northbound Route 896 to allow free flow traffic coming from I-95 southbound. The lane closure will be in place starting at 7 a.m. and will be cleared by 1 p.m. The football game will be held at the University of Delaware’s Delaware Stadium.

Monster “Mash” Marathon and Half Marathon-Dover
Motorists can expect an interruption in traffic from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. and watch out for runners on Route 13 at Leipsic; Route 13 at Route 8; downtown Dover; Route 9; and Little Creek on Saturday, October 18. Motorists should expect delays on Route 13.

The marathon and half marathon will begin inside the Monster Mile race track at the Dover International Speedway in Dover. Runners will circle the Monster Mile before heading into the City of Dover. Runners will race through the City of Dover’s historical area passing “The Green” and “Legislative Hall.” After leaving the City, runners will travel east through the town of Little Creek and Port Mahon completing the marathon in front of “Miles the Monster” at Dover International Speedway.

25th Annual Sea Witch Halloween and Fiddlers’ Festival-Rehoboth
Annual festival will be held in Rehoboth beginning on Friday, October 24 through Sunday, October 26.

On Saturday, October 25, satellite parking areas will be available for visitors traveling on both north and southbound along Route 1. Shuttle service will operate from all satellite parking locations on Saturday to bring festival goers into the resort area.
