Patricia Rivera recibe el Premio a la Mujer Empresaria del Año

LEWES, DEL. (20 de nov. de 2018) — Patricia Rivera acaba de recibir el Premio a la Mujer Empresaria del Año en 2018 que otorga la Cámara de Comercio del condado de New Castle. Rivera es la propietaria de Hook PR & Marketing, una agencia con sede en Lewes, Delaware, que ayuda a organizaciones y agentes de cambio a superar desafíos complejos con servicios de marketing innovadores.

Rivera obtuvo este reconocimiento en el 28.° Congreso de Liderazgo para Mujeres (Women’s Leadership Conference) de la cámara, que se realizó el jueves, 15 de noviembre en el Chase Center de Wilmington, Delaware.

“Patricia Rivera, especialista en relato de marca y asesoramiento en marketing, se destaca ayudando a organizaciones de Delaware a construir sus marcas con contenidos significativos en múltiples canales”, explica Bob Chadwick, presidente de la cámara. Rivera tenía 7 años cuando su padre, un profesor universitario, se mudó con su familia de Bolivia a los Estados Unidos. “Hasta el día de hoy, es un ejemplo de coraje y perseverancia para mis tres hermanos y yo”, expresó Patricia en su discurso de aceptación.

Después de que la University of Tennessee le otorgara su licenciatura en comunicaciones, Rivera se especializó en periodismo. Ha trabajado para diversos periódicos, como The New York Times, The News Journal y Dallas Morning News.

Fundó Hook PR & Marketing en 2007.  Esta compañía, con sede en el condado de Sussex, tiene clientes de todo el estado, incluida la Oficina de Educación Superior de Delaware, $tand By Me, Telamon Corporation, NCALL Research y Perdue Farms.

Agradece en parte a sus mentoras Ellyn Herbert, de la Agencia Federal para el Desarrollo de la Pequeña Empresa (SBA), y Antara Dutta, expresidenta de SCORE, por su crecimiento. En mi tribu, hay aguerridas luchadoras preparadas para identificar fortalezas que quizás ni una misma sabe que tiene. Te desafían a dar lo mejor de ti. Te sacan de tu zona de confort por más que grites y patalees”.

Hace poco, lanzó una segunda compañía, Marketing Ella, para ayudar a las mujeres a desarrollar marcas más audaces y sitios web más inteligentes.

Tiene un rol activo en la comunidad: integra la junta de la Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement (Alianza de Delaware para el Fomento de Organizaciones sin Fines de Lucro) y la Comisión Hispana de Delaware. Además, es presidenta de la junta directiva de La Esperanza.

“Déjennos aprovechar oportunidades para elevar a otras”, dijo al público. “Déjennos ser las guerreras que inicien las conversaciones para impulsar acciones. Déjennos abrir puertas y hacer conexiones. Déjennos inspirar”.

LEWES, DEL. (Nov. 20, 2018) — Patricia Rivera recently received the 2018 Entrepreneurial Woman of the Year Award from the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce. Rivera is the owner of Lewes, Delaware-based Hook PR & Marketing, an agency for changemakers and organizations that solve tough challenges with innovative services.

Rivera was recognized at the chamber’s 28th Women’s Leadership Conference, held Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington, Delaware.

“Patricia Rivera, brand storyteller and marketing consultant, excels at helping Delaware organizations build their brands with meaningful content across multiple channels,” said Bob Chadwick, the chamber president. “Through her hard work and dedication, she has built her business, created jobs and given back in so many ways.”

Rivera was 7 when her father, then a recent widower and college professor, moved the family from Bolivia to the United States to start over. “To this day, he exemplifies courage and perseverance for my three brothers and me,” she said in her acceptance speech.

After earning her bachelor’s degree in communications at the University of Tennessee, Rivera began a career in journalism. She’s worked for The New York Times, The News Journal and the Dallas Morning News.

She started Hook PR & Marketing in 2007. Based in Sussex County, the company has clients statewide, including the Delaware Higher Education Office, $tand By Me, Telamon Corporation, NCALL Research and Perdue Farms.

She partly credits mentors Ellyn Herbert of the Small Business Administration and Antara Dutta, a former SCORE president, for her growth. Dutta is the founder of a program called We Think, which helps female entrepreneurs expand their businesses.

“We’ve all heard the saying that behind every great man is a great woman,” Rivera said. “I say that behind every successful entrepreneur is a tribe. My tribe is made up of fierce warriors … who identify strengths you may not even realize that you have. They challenge you to stretch. They pull you—sometimes kicking and screaming—outside your comfort zone.”

Rivera recently launched a second company, Marketing Ella, to help women build bolder brands and smarter websites.

Active in the community, she sits on the board of the Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement and the Delaware Hispanic Commission. She is president of the board of La Esperanza.

“Let us embrace opportunities to elevate others,” she told the audience. “Let us be the warriors who start conversations that spark action. Let us open doors and make connections. Let us inspire.”
