Free community forum series focuses on consumers and energy

Del-Tech

Georgetown, DE – The first in a series of free community forums entitled “Energy & You: Achievable, Affordable and Sustainable” will be held on Tuesday, January 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the theater of the Arts & Science Center at Delaware Technical & Community College in Georgetown. The featured presenter will be Bill Andrew, president and CEO of Delaware Electric Cooperative, headquartered in Greenwood, Delaware. Today’s energy strategy must be affordable, achievable and sustainable. How we get there is the key! Using existing technology and common sense is an important step to reduce cost, eliminate waste and assure adequate energy for future generations. The forum will identify energy strategies and practices designed to meet our energy goals by using all of our available tools. The information given by Andrew will be applicable to all consumers with the focus on common-sense things everyone can do to make a difference in energy usage, cost, and effectiveness. Attendees will learn what they can do immediately to make their homes more energy efficient and lower their energy bills. A question and answer session will follow the presentation. There also will be displays by utility companies and the state’s Delaware’s Sustainable Energy Utility’s (SEU) Energize Delaware which will provide attendees with information on energy efficiency, conservation, state-wide customer energy-saving and rebate programs and rebate availability. Staff members from the organizations will be available to answer questions one hour prior to and one hour after the event. These community energy forums, designed to address the many issues surrounding the energy field, are being offered to the public through the collaborative efforts of Delaware Electric Cooperative, Delaware Technical & Community College, Delmarva Power, DEMEC (Delaware Municipal Electric Corporation), and Energize Delaware. The “Energy & You” series will present additional free community forums in March, May and October. Registration is free.
