Georgetown – Improve your driving or computer skills, get fit, or discover a new hobby in personal development courses offered at Delaware Technical & Community College, Owens Campus.

Learn simple defensive driving strategies and earn a 10 percent reduction on the liability portion of your automobile insurance for three years by completing the basic defensive driving course on Saturday, May 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants will also receive a three-point credit applied to their Delaware driving record.

Three years after completing the basic class, graduates can participate in Advanced Defensive Driving on Saturday, May 1, 9 a.m. to noon, to learn additional strategies for road safety and earn a 15 percent reduction on their insurance for another three-year period.

Divorcing parents can satisfy Delaware’s legal requirements for parent education and learn what children experience when parents divorce by participating in the Divorcing Parent Education Program on Saturday, May 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or Tuesday, May 25 and Thursday, May 27 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Fitness and wellness classes will help to improve your health and lower stress levels. Build strength without excess bulk to create a sleek, toned body in Pilates on Mondays and Wednesdays, May 3 to June 14, from 5 to 6 p.m.

Combine the use of the mind, body, and spirit into graceful and slow movements in Tai Chi, level 1 at 6 p.m. or level 2 at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, May 4 to June 8.

Learn basic karate techniques and foot positions while improving strength, speed, balance and flexibility in Karate on Saturdays, May 8 to June 19, from 11:10 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.

Release tension and stress through a series of meditation, breathing and stretching exercises in Yoga on Mondays, May 10 to June 21, from 7 to 8 p.m.

Receive complete instruction on the rules and etiquette of golf at Midway Par 3 in Lewes on Mondays and Wednesdays, May 10 to 26, from 5 to 6 p.m.

Enjoy an hour-long calorie-burning workout in Zumba which fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves on Tuesdays and Thursdays, May 11 to 27, from 5 to 6 p.m.

Start a new hobby or expand your skill set by taking special interest courses. Learn the basics of voice acting on Monday, May 3 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Acquire the skills needed to shoot multiple targets with speed and accuracy on the first try in Firearms: Tactical Safety on Saturdays, May 8 and 15, from 9 a.m. to noon; course is held at the instructor’s range in Georgetown.

Use basic functions to create, format, and print worksheets and charts in First Steps to Excel on Wednesday, May 12 from 6 to 9 p.m.
