Scientists Speak Out Against the 'General Consensus' on Climate Change

Georgetown-Two scientists who have studied the atmosphere and sea level changed told an audience of 250 people the currently theory of "man-made "climate change is wrong and there is not much we can do about it.

Dr. Willie Soon, an astrophysicist and former researcher at the Smithsonian Institute in Cambridge, Mass., showed graphs and testimony from people in the field who, even from those who believe the planet is warming as a direct result of human action, could not find evidence that humans are indeed responsible.

Applying the Truth-o-Meter to the State of the Union's Energy Claims

Did President Obama somehow become the most pro-energy president in decades? You might think so based on his State of the Union address.

His administration's record, however, proves the opposite. Here are the five most deceiving claims from the speech.

Claim 1: "We produce more oil at home than we have in 15 years."

Most of the increased oil and gas production is from private lands, over which - thankfully - the Obama administration has no control. On federal lands and offshore, the Obama administration has denied or delayed countless drilling requests.

First, the reality is that climate-changing emissions keep rising and, while humans could act to stop this, we aren' doing so. See, for example "CO2 emissions rises mean dangerous climate change now almost certain."

As many of you know, I've recently spent time in Minnesota. Minnesota (mean elevation 1200 ft, lowest point, 601 feet) is suffering from climate change and

So, for the record, accelerated depreciation on drilling equipment and oil depletion allowances that made sense to encourage drilling when oil was at $30 a barrel do not make sense at $100 a barrel and they should end.

But some perspective is needed. Oil industry subsidies amount to about six tenths of a cent a gallon. Solar subsidies are the equivalent of stopping for gasoline and instead of paying $4 a gallon for gas the station pays you sixty cents. Solar subsidies have problems including

If you trim it the wrong way, you’re only compounding your problems, but learning the right way is not nearly as difficult as going to cosmetology school.

Date: Wednesday, June 23, 2010
Action Day?: Yes

Forecast Discussion:
Wednesday is an Air Quality Action Day in Delaware! Mostly sunny and very hot on Wednesday. Ozone concentrations will reach the Code Orange range across the state.

Extended Forecast:
Hot weather continues on Thursday but strong winds and increasing clouds will improve air quality slightly. Moderate air quality is expected but a slight chance for Code Orange concentrations remains. Much less humid on Friday with moderate air quality.

Seattle, Washington. (UW; ConCienciaNews) – If you’ve ever wondered how birds –particularly sparrows —learn to sing, the answer arrives from Seattle, where University of Washington’s scientists analyzed how young birds learn their songs’ repertoire.

The results of their study will appear on the October edition of the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B. In summary, however, it can be said that eavesdropping on the singing conversations between two adult sparrows appears to be a key event in song learning.

My dearest friends Susan, and Rick, have a few cats and a couple of dogs that live outdoors. They are busy now preparing their pets’ homes for the upcoming winter’s bitter cold and wet conditions. We all need to protect our pets from the harsh winter winds, colder temperatures, and the normal rain, sleet, and snow before winter conditions are here.

When the thermometer drops abruptly, do not leave cats or dogs outside. Old, very young and shorthaired pets should never be left outdoors.
