As of February 1, 2013, Delaware 2-1-1, the statewide information and referral service of United Way of Delaware and home to Help Me Grow Delaware and The Cancer Helpline, will have the ability to serve the needs of the community even greater. Delaware 2-1-1 will begin offering extended hours of operation on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. and on weekends from 9:00 a.m. - noon. Sec. Vivian Rapposelli confirmed to the Superior Court of the State of Delaware
Department of Services for Children, Youth & Their Families Secretary Vivian L. Rapposelli has been confirmed by the state's Senate to the Superior Court of the State of Delaware on Wednesday, January 23.
The confirmation hearing and vote took place at Legislative Hall in Dover.
Prosecutor Paul Wallace was also approved to the Superior Court during the same Senate session.
The 12-year-term positions were nominated by Gov. Jack Markell on January 11.

Sussex County to hold surplus vehicle, property auction Jan. 19
Sussex County government is cleaning house and ready to make a deal.
The County will hold an in-house auction of surplus equipment on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center parking lot, 21911 Rudder Lane, near Georgetown. The auction will begin at noon; however, potential buyers can inspect vehicles and equipment beginning at 10 a.m. on that date.
An assortment of cars, trucks, and generator parts that have been declared surplus or no longer suitable for the County’s operational needs will be featured during the auction, the first large-scale event....

Bus stop closures in downtown Dover for Governor Markell's Inauguration on Tuesday, January 15
Due to the inaugural ceremonies scheduled for January 15, 2013, at Legislative Mall in downtown Dover, DART Bus Routes 106, 107, 301 and 303 will be on detour from 10 AM until 2 PM.
The following bus stops will be closed temporarily:
• Federal Street at Water Street
• Federal Street at Duke of York Street
• Duke of York Street at Legislative Avenue

Train derails in Bridgeville, prompts precautionary evacuations
A propane tanker and several gravel cars derailed along Wilson Farm Road south of the Wesley Church Road intersection near Bridgeville this morning, prompting a precautionary evacuation of a handful of homes, though no spill or leak is occurring at this time.
The mishap occurred just after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. There are no injuries reported from the derailment of the Norfolk Southern train. Initial inspection of the propane tank by the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Company and Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) shows no evidence of any leak. ....

Victim in Magnolia fire identified as 11-Year-Old girl
GEORGETOWN (Dec. 13, 2012) – The Delaware Office of the Chief Medical Examiner identified the victim of Wednesday night’s fatal house fire in Magnolia as Andromeda Brown, 11.
Following an autopsy, the Medical Examiner’s office ruled the girl’s death an accident.
The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office continues its investigation into the origin and cause of the fatal fire at the home in the 100 block of Juanita Drive.

Senator Coons in Milford
On Pearl Harbor Day, Senator Coons visited the Delaware Veterans Home in Milford.
The gentleman pictured with the Senator is Thomas Morris, a veteran who survived the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Mr. Morris was on the USS California the day the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. He was one of 62 who were wounded. Another 98 died that day.
