Festival Hispano to celebrate Guatemala
El Centro Cultural is pleased to invite the public to attend Festival Hispano in Millsboro. This year, the community event will be held on Sunday, August 19th. Festival Hispano starts at 12:00 noon and lasts until 6:00 pm. The event is free for the whole family and conveniently located at the Little League Complex on W. State Street in Millsboro, Delaware.

Legislature Right to Table Charter School Bill
Last Week the House Education Committee tabled HB 380.
The purpose of this bill is to revise the Delaware Charter School law by among other things requiring charter school applications be submitted to local school boards for review and consideration, require a face-to-face meeting with the charter school applicant to review and discuss the application, requiring statements about the impact on school district enrollment and financial programs, and eliminating five mile draw boundary.

A panel of experts will discuss the poetry traditions of the United States and Mexico and the literary exchanges between the two countries, shedding light on the historical, political and cultural heritages of both nations.

ARTADDICTION: A Community Sensitive Art Contest
In keeping with tradition, the show was once again held at the Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts and was attended by 10 exhibitors and 16 pieces of art.
This year, submissions emphasized on quality and technical expertise, and demonstrated noteworthy depth and talent. Contestants were given free rein to imagine and shape their works with outstanding creativity to illustrate the competition’s theme: addiction.

Como ha sido tradición, la muestra artística se desarrolló en el Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts y contó con la participación de 10 expositores y 16 obras de arte.
En esta oportunidad se hizo énfasis en la calidad y la técnica de las obras, mostrando un avance sorprendente en comparación a otras ediciones. Los concursantes dieron rienda suelta a su imaginación y plasmaron con una creatividad sobresaliente el tema del concurso: la adicción.

"Skimming the Surface: Surfing, Skimboarding, and Floating off the Delaware Coast."
On display will be vintage surf boards, skimboards and bathing suits. Surfing slang, board shaping and information about ancient Hawaiian surfing traditions will be featured. The exhibit begins May 28 and continues through the first week of March 2012.
