  • Delaware gets ready for today's snow storm
    Dover -- With a winter storm just hours away, DelDOT crews are mobilized and are making storm preparations. Crews in New Castle County spent Saturday pretreating roads with brine; a salt and water mixture. In Sussex County, crews began pretreating the roads today. In Kent County, forecasts call for rain before the snow, so crews have not pretreated the roads since brine would likely wash away before snow falls.     Governor Jack Markell has lifted the State of Emergency and Level 1 Driving Warning in Kent County as of 6pm and Sussex County as of 8pm.     (Smyrna) – A Winter Storm Warning, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS), remains in effect for New Castle and Kent Counties until 4:00pm today, March 3rd.     Wilmington, DE – State of Delaware offices will be closed today, as we continue to recover from the winter storm that ended this morning.     Due to adverse weather conditions and in order to ensure safe and adequate transportation services, DART is announcing the following service updates: Fixed Route New Castle County: Last trips out of Downtown Wilmington will leave Rodney Square at approximately 5 PM ( see below for Rt. 301).     Snow has begun to fall in New Castle County, and DelDOT trucks are on the road in what promises to be a significant snow event. More than 400 DelDOT pieces of equipment will be working during this storm, plowing snow, applying salt and providing support to emergency personnel where needed. Yesterday, nearly all of the roads in Delaware were pretreated by DelDOT with brine: a salt and water mixture.     DART's statewide bus services, both fixed route and paratransit are operating with the exception of the following routes in New Castle County: Route 8 - No service at this time. Route 10 - No service to Centerville. All buses will short turn at Pennsylvania Ave and Rising Sun Lane. Route 24 - Buses will remain on Governor Printz Blvd. Delays can be expected due to road conditions. SEPTA Wilmington/Newark Line is also operating. Delays can be expected.     Dover – The Department of Transportation (DelDOT) reminds drivers to expect additional traffic on Delaware's roadways beginning on Saturday, December 21.     Dover - DelDOT snow crews mobilized this morning in all three Delaware counties, with plowing underway in New Castle and Kent counties. Road treatment is underway in parts of Sussex county.   • Woodland ferry closed for maintenance
    Seaford, DE – The Department of Transportation (DelDOT) reminds motorists that the Woodland Ferry is closed for the inspection of the ferry by the U. S. Coast Guard, as well as extended maintenance service. While there has been a delay in beginning of the maintenance work, the contractor will be making these repairs to the ferry: replacement of the engine, hull repairs, work on the hydraulic system and fuel tank, painting, and any supplemental work that may need to be addressed.     Monday, October 14, 2013 – Delaware Transit Corporation (DTC) announced today the initiation of the Rider Origin – Destination Survey. The survey will request transit trip information from DART First State customers riding routes in Northern New Castle County. The information collected will assist in transit service planning for the Wilmington, DE region.
