    The Cape Henlopen Education Foundation (CHEF) recently announced eight grants totaling $3650 to help Cape Henlopen School District teachers enhance educational opportunities for their students.     Applications are still being accepted from parents who wish to enroll their children in Spanish immersion programs at John M. Clayton and East Millsboro elementary schools in 2014-2015.     John M. Clayton and East Millsboro elementary schools will host a series of open houses for their Spanish immersion programs on April 14 and April 16. Parents interested in enrolling their child in the program next year may visit these schools on either day to tour the immersion classrooms. No appointment is necessary.   • Indian River School District to extend school day by 30 minutes
    Beginning on Monday, March 17, the Indian River School District will extend the school day by 30 minutes at all of its schools. The minutes will be added to the end of the school day. The morning start time for each school will remain the same. The school day is being extended to make up lost instructional hours resulting from seven weather cancellations during the 2013-2014 school year. In addition, the end of the third marking period is being moved from March 31 to April 2. The distribution of report cards will remain on April 9.
