DOVER – The Senate will hold a one-day special session Sept. 22 at Legislative Hall, Senate President Pro Tem Anthony DeLuca, D-Newark East, announced Wednesday.
The session will deal with reviewing and voting on appointments from Gov. Jack Markell.
Members of the Senate Executive Committee start the day with a 1 p.m. hearing to review Markell’s appointees, which include his nominations of Travis Laster to the Chancery Court bench and Janell Ostroski as a New Castle County Family Court Commissioner and Markell’s renomination Chief Magistrate Alan Davis to head the Justice of the Peace Court system.
After the hearings, DeLuca is calling the Senate into session at 3:30 p.m. for the formal swearing in ceremony for Sen. Joseph W. Booth, R-Georgetown, followed by the session, called by Markell, to vote on his nominees starting at 4 p.m. DeLuca said the Senate has no other business scheduled for the special session.
