Six sobriety checkpoints set for coming weekend


Dover – Six sobriety checkpoints are scheduled for the weekend of September 11 & 12th as part of the Checkpoint Strikeforce impaired driving prevention campaign. The checkpoints are scheduled for:

Friday September 11 – Newark (NcCo DUI Task Force)

Milford (Milford PD)

Clayton (Clayton PD)

Saturday September 12 – Christiana (DSP Troop 6)

Laurel (Laurel PD)

Dover (Dover PD)

Additionally, the Seaford Police Department will conduct DUI Saturation patrols on Saturday night. Results from Labor Day Weekend DUI enforcement as well as a wrap up of the “120 Days of Summer HEAT” initiative will be issued later in the week.

Checkpoint Strikeforce is a regional sobriety checkpoint campaign aimed at arresting DUI offenders, and using high visibility enforcement to deter those who would otherwise choose to drink and drive. The campaign, a six month long effort running through New Year’s Eve, involves setting up weekly DUI checkpoints statewide.
