Dover – As snow and ice is expected in New Castle county Saturday morning, DelDOT crews have been pre-treating roadways, preparing their vehicles, and making plans for the coming days.
Since early this morning, crews have been pre-treating roads in New Castle county with brine, a mixture of salt and water.
The interstate highways, as well as Route 1and many other major and secondary roads are being pretreated, which will continue until dark this evening.
Tomorrow, all DelDOT plow operators, mechanics and supervisors in New Castle County will report at 6 a.m., and immediately begin treating the roads as necessary. This is more than 200 people and vehicles.
In Kent County, ½ of crew members will report at 6 a.m.
Sussex County, a small number of crews and supervisors will be working, monitoring the roads.
