New Castle County has completed a draft Consolidated Plan Five Year Plan for housing and community development programs. The Consolidated Plan discusses housing and community development needs, priorities, objectives, strategies, and proposed accomplishments for the period July 1, 2010 – June 30, 2015.
Also under discussion will be New Castle County’s One Year Action Plan specific funding recommendations for activities for the period July 1, 2010 – June 30, 2011.
The Consolidated Plan serves as the housing and community development planning document for New Castle County and as the application for Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), the HOME Investment Partnerships program, and the Emergency Shelter Grants Program (ESG). Funds are from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Approximately $6 million in HUD, state, and County funding is expected to be available to address housing and community development needs, including activities conducted by Cooperating Community City of Newark.
The draft Consolidated Plan is available for public comment through April 25, 2010. Comments should be submitted to Community Services Department by that date. The draft Plan is available at the New Castle County website at www.nccde.org or by requesting a copy via the contact information below.
