WILMINGTON — United States Representative John Carney (D-DE) today issued the following statement on Martin Luther King Jr. Day:
“Martin Luther King, Jr. was a civil rights pioneer who led an epic battle for equality, freedom and justice. His words inspired. His actions sparked a movement. And his leadership changed America forever.
“Today, and every day, we should celebrate Dr. King’s legacy by serving our communities and working to make the world a better place. Dr. King would be proud of the progress we’ve made, but he would urge us to continue fighting for the values that define us as Americans.”
