Delaware Governor Jack A. Markell releases the following statement after President Obama’s announcement that Osama bin Laden was killed by U.S. forces:
“This is a moment for us to say thank you to those who have fought our fight against terrorism, especially our Delaware troops. Thousands of National Guardsmen and women, in addition to U.S. and coalition military forces, have shown almost ten years of unbroken service, professionalism and patriotism. Hundreds of Delaware air and army soldiers deserve our gratitude for their service in Afghanistan. Many remain on duty as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. With valor, courage and duty, they fight for all of us in Delaware and beyond.”
Delaware currently has approximately 325 Delaware National Guardsmen serving in Afghanistan.
