DOVER, DE – Community organizations, bands, car clubs and fire departments are encouraged to register by November 26 for the “Home for the Holidays” parade and festival set for downtown Dover, Saturday, December 6.
The parade will line up on Slaughter Street on the west side of downtown Dover starting at 11 a.m., with the parade starting as 12 noon. From Slaughter Street, the parade will travel down Loockerman Street east to Federal Street and end on William Penn Street. Following the parade, car clubs have been invited to exhibit their vehicles on Loockerman, and the first 50 vehicles will receive souvenir dash plaques commemorating the First Annual Home for the Holidays parade.
To date some of the participating organizations include Campus Community High School Band; Delaware Tech’s Hammerin’ Hawks; Modern Maturity Center’s Steppin’ Seniors; Monster Racing Excitement; Dover High ROTC; Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs; Clear Space Production’s cast of “Scrooge”; PT Cruisers Car Club; Delaware Jeep Club; Delaware Corvette Club; Dover Housing Authority; several local fire departments including Dover Fire Department; and bringing up the rear will be Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Following the parade, live entertainment on the Bradford Street stage will include the Maranatha Memorial Baptist Church Bell Choir, the Booker T. Washington Elementary School Children’s Choir, The Dance Factory’s Itinerant Dance Theater, Delta Gems Step Group
