The Wellness Community –Delaware (TWC-D), an affiliate of the Cancer Support Community, is recruiting members for their Strides for Hope team. The phrase states “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” but the donations generated by this year’s Strides for Hope in Las Vegas will benefit people affected by cancer right here in Sussex County.
The Strides for Hope team will participate in the Las Vegas Rock n’ Roll Marathon on December 5, 2010. The team raises money that is used to offer free cancer support programs in Sussex County. Strides for Hope team members who raise their personal goal of $2,800 will receive round trip airfare, accommodations at the Luxor Hotel, team training, event shirts as well as fund raising assistance and a team pasta dinner. Team members will have ample time to enjoy all the fun and excitement that Las Vegas has to offer.
Many Strides for Hope team members walk or run in honor or in memory of a loved one who has been touched by cancer. Some team members walk or run to celebrate their own cancer survivorship. The money raised by downstate team members is fully tax deductible and is used for providing free support and education programs for people battling cancer in Sussex County.
