Si bien los contribuyentes pueden utilizar el sistema de declaraciones gratuito del IRS, no tienen fácil acceso a un servicio de respuesta a sus inquietudes. Con $tand By Me®, los contribuyentes sólo tienen que hacer una llamada cuando necesitan ayuda.

$tand By Me® Poised to Offer Free Tax Preparation Services to Delaware Taxpayers
Taxpayers with an income of $60,000 or less will be able to do their own taxes in the comfort of home using a simple easy-access fill-in-the-blanks software that is available free of charge through $tand By Me®. For the third year in a row, $tand By Me®, will provide the MyFreeTaxes software, which includes a free hotline staffed by IRS-certified income tax preparers, to help taxpayers file their returns. $tand By Me® is a financial empowerment program that is a joint project of the State of Delaware and United Way of Delaware.
Taxpayers can file their taxes online, from home or any computer with internet connection, and get immediate help via a staffed hotline. They start the process by visiting myfreetaxesde.com. The program’s goal is to help Delawareans file their taxes accurately so they receive all the refund due to them and not pay more taxes than they should.
“We are working in conjunction with the national MyFreeTaxes campaign, an effort to assist low- to moderate-income taxpayers file their taxes without paying costly tax preparation fees, which can easily top $100 or more,” said Mary Dupont, director of Stand By Me® and director of Financial Empowerment in the Department of Health and Social Services.
The tax preparation program, powered by H&R Block, is safe, free and easy to use. The 2015 MyFreeTaxes partnership, is the only online initiative allowing free federal and state tax preparation and filing in all 50 states and the District of Columbia to qualifying individuals and families.
According to MyFreeTaxes.com, since its launch on a national level, in 2009, 1.7 million households saved $340 million in tax preparation fees and almost $8 billion in tax credits and refunds.
Though taxpayers may use the IRS’s free filing system, they don’t have easy access to help with questions. With $tand By Me®, filers only need to pick up the phone when they need help.
“Helping people access free tax preparation and filing assistance is a valuable service that allows families to potentially save a lot of money and time,” said Michelle Taylor, President and CEO of United Way of Delaware.
Before filing, MyFreeTaxes recommends that taxpayers get organized by gathering all documents that will be needed – forms such as W-2s, 1099s, bank account numbers, and income/interest statements. Then assemble the documents that are tax deductible, such as childcare expenses, business expenses, and charitable donations. Speaking with a tax preparer via the hot line can help find other deductible expenses the taxpayer may qualify for.
