Wilmington, Del.— In honor of National Mentoring Month, mentoring organizations from across the state of Delaware are coming together on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 from 8:30am-1:30pm at the Sheraton Hotel in Dover, DE to host the first annual “Mentoring Works” Summit. The Summit’s purpose is to strengthen mentoring in Delaware by encouraging involvement and participation by all stakeholders as a strategy for helping young people succeed in school, work, and life.
All business leaders, mentors, educators, providers, and student leaders are encouraged to attend the Summit and there are 20 different breakout sessions to choose from so that each person has a unique experience and receives the greatest benefit.
The summit begins with a light breakfast and networking followed by a kick off into the days activities. There are two breakout session opportunities, each session lasting an hour and ranging in topic and intended audience. Keynote speaker Tyrone Jones, Director of Corporate Community Alliances at AstraZeneca and a Creative Mentoring partner and supporter will speak during a sit-down lunch.
The organizations leading the event are Connecting Generations, Communities in Schools, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware, The Delaware Mentoring Council and the Business Mentoring Alliance.
