LEWES (April 3, 2022) – The Village Improvement Association (VIA) of Rehoboth Beach, a member of General Federation of Women’s Club (GFWC), annually sponsors the Mildred Gray scholarship for Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing students at Beebe Healthcare.
This year’s recipients of the VIA scholarship are Kirsten Taylor, a senior nursing student from Selbyville, and Mary Helen Waltjen, a first-year nursing student who resides in Lewes.
Eligibility requirements for the scholarship include being a Sussex County resident, having a B average in the nursing courses, and demonstrating a financial need.
Members of the VIA provide numerous volunteer hours for fundraising events to support charitable and civic work in the greater Rehoboth Beach area.
The Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing at Beebe Healthcare is the only hospital-based nursing program in Delaware and is accredited by The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). The diploma in Professional Nursing is awarded at the completion of the curriculum, qualifying graduates to be eligible for National Council of State Boards of Nursing NCLEX examination, leading to licensure as a registered nurse. Beebe graduates consistently have high NCLEX pass rates.
