Voices Without Borders appoints Maria Velasquez as community organizer


Voces Sin Fronteras has appointed Maria Velasquez as the organization’s community organizer.

An immigrant from Medellin, Colombia, Maria is pursuing a degree in Human Services with a concentration in Administration and Public Policy at the University of Delaware.

Maria has served as Project Supervisor for American Youth Understanding Diabetes Abroad (A.Y.U.D.A.), has traveled to Bolivia and Ecuador to help children needing aid, and has contributed articles to the local Hispanic media in Delaware.

“I’m looking forward to giving back to the community,” said Velasquez.

“Maria comes to Voices with great passion for the Hispanic community and magnificent initiative in serving and making a difference,” said board member Br. Chris Posch.

Voices Without Borders strives to create the space for the Hispanic community to define their objectives, unite their voices, and realize their goals by building bridges and partnerships with local agents of change.
