August 26, 2009 Wilmington, DE: A family of four (two adults and two children) met with volunteers from the American Red Cross of the Delmarva Peninsula today after their Williams Street home in Dover, DE was destroyed by a fire. The Red Cross provided the family with temporary shelter, clothing, food and stuffed animals for the children. Sadly, only one of the family’s two dogs survived.
The Red Cross reminds residents of the Delmarva Peninsula to check and replace the batteries in their smoke detectors. A working and updated smoke alarm may save your life or the lives of your loved ones in the event of a fire.
