What do you do when you don’t know what to do? Lately, I had been asking myself that question. The answer was eluding me because of the constant bombardment of distracting negative news that disturbed my peace. I had found myself at a crossroad and needed to decide which way to go. Should I turn left, or right? Going back was not an option.
My mind wanted to take the lead. However, I knew that following its constant chatter would not be wise. “Be still and know that I am God.” Certainly, I needed to be quiet enough to hear the guidance of the ‘still small voice.’ There, I learned that being still does not mean lack of movement; rather, it means being willing to move forward by trusting God completely.
This was confirmed in the scriptures: “Trust in the LORD with all thy might, lean not on thy own understanding….” (Proverbs 3:5) and “trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and feed on HIS faithfulness (Psalms 37:3). I realized that whenever I had fully trusted God, I ended up in situations and places that advanced my mental, emotional and spiritual growth.
Another scripture arose to guide me: “There is a way that seems right to a man but its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 14:12 and Proverbs 16:25). I recognized that it is easy to follow the crowds, especially when we forget who we truly are. The danger of doing this is that we end up in the same situations and places that produced pain and suffering.
When it is time for us to move, life gives us signs. By learning to read them, we receive heavenly guidance. This guidance helps us to confirm if we are on the right path. And, the decisions we make under these conditions direct us towards our next steps. Or, we may discover that we are already where we need to be to experience our next phrase of expansion. Yes, we can expand right where we are, even when uncertainty abound all around us!
As I typed this I hear the bell of my cellular phone announce a message from a colleague. I noticed the title: “You’re already there.” Another confirmation of what I just shared. Isn’t that divine? Therefore, let us exercise faith and remember that uncertainty does not exist whenever we trust God!

Cuando abunda la incertidumbre

¿Qué haces cuando no sabes qué hacer? Últimamente, me he estado preguntando eso. La contestación se me escapaba a causa del constante bombardeo de noticias negativas que perturbaba mi paz. Me había encontrado en un cruce y necesitaba decidir hacia dónde dirigirme. ¿Viro hacia la izquierda o hacia la derecha? Sabía que ir hacia atrás no era una opción.
Mi mente quería dirigirme. No obstante, entendía que no sería sabio seguirla a causa de su cotorreo constante. “Estad quietos, y conoced que yo soy Dios…” Ciertamente, necesitaba estar quieta lo suficiente para escuchar los consejos de la ‘voz pequeña y quieta.’ Aprendí que el estar quieta no significaba inmovilizarme; más bien, significa el ejercer la voluntad de seguir hacia adelante confiando en Dios completamente.
Esto fue confirmado en las escrituras: “Fíate de Jehová de todo tu corazón, y no te apoyes en tu propia prudencia… (Proverbios 3:5)” y “Confía en Jehová y haz el bien; y habitaras en la tierra y te apacentaras de la verdad (Salmos 37:3). Concebí que siempre que he confiado en Dios, me ha llevado a situaciones y lugares que avanzan mi crecimiento mental, emocional y espiritual.
Otra escritura que vino a mi corazón para guiarme: “Hay camino que al hombre le parece derecho; pero su fin es camino de muerte” (Proverbios 14:12 y Proverbios 16:25). Reconocí que es fácil seguir a las multitudes, especialmente cuando olvidamos quienes somos en verdad. El peligro de hacer esto es que podemos terminar en las mismas situaciones y lugares que conducen al dolor y el sufrimiento.
Cuando es tiempo de moverse del lugar en el que estamos, la vida nos brinda señales. Al aprender a reconocerlas, recibimos la guía divina. Esta guía nos ayuda a confirmar si nos encontramos en el camino correcto. Y, las decisiones que tomamos bajo estas condiciones nos dirigen hacia los próximos pasos a seguir. O, descubrimos que ya nos encontramos allí, en el lugar preciso para experimentar nuestra próxima fase de crecimiento. Ciertamente, podemos expandir justo donde nos encontramos, ¡a pesar de que abunde la incertidumbre a nuestro derredor!
Mientras escribo esto, escucho la campana de mi celular anunciando un nuevo mensaje de una colega. El título: “Ya estás allí.” Es otra confirmación de lo que acabo de compartir. ¡Qué divino! Así es que ejerzamos la fe y recordemos que la incertidumbre no existe cuando confiamos verdaderamente en Dios.
