In late February a group of Firefly fans got together for a weekend of fun at the beach. Calling the event, Winterfly: A Firefly Family Reunion, the group spent the weekend in Dewey Beach, toured Dogfish Craft Brewery and held a party at the Starboard. During the party they held an auction that included Firefly tickets, custom made skateboards and original artwork. The money raised during the auction was donated to the Sussex Academy music program.
“I am so happy with the donation,” said music teacher Gerald Birl. “It is so nice to have music lovers come together and help a growing music program. We will certainly put the donation to good use and are very grateful to the Winterfly group for their support.”
Anna Moshier, both a Sussex Academy parent and Winterfly organizer echoed Birl’s sentiments. "Raising money for the Sussex Academy music program was really an easy decision. The Winterfly crowd loves music and wants to foster that passion for young musicians and performers."
